I Have New Books

Here is one I've been looking forward to. Lucha Loco is great, a nice simple photography style on every spread that does justice to the amazing costumes. The quote on the opposing age gives a glimpse into the personality of the individual behind the mask. I don't know what it is about Lucha Libre, but I've never actually been interested in the wrestling part. The colours, costumes, eccentricity and spirit are irresistible though.

Take this guy for instance.

"I once made love with eight women, they have always loved my hair."

From what I can see, I'm guessing they usually ask him to keep the mask on.

"Besides wrestling I'm also an accountant at the airport customs office."

I managed to bag myself some old copies of National Geographic from the 70's and 80's. I particularly enjoy the technology focused issues. A particularly sweet sentence: "Extoic now, computer conveniences such as electronic mail and newspapers and home banking and shopping could in time become as universal as telephone service."

Imagine if someone told him about Street View, Facebook or GPS. He'd freak.

A Reely Bad Pun

I recently completed a one month mid-term internship at the wonderful moving image studio Art & Graft. The guys there are really great at what they do, I found the whole experience very inspiring and motivating. The magic of working in London didn't wear off one bit, either.

I worked on a few projects at different stages of completion. I started out helping on a rotosoped animation about the dangers of poo. The lengthy explaination is that it was an awareness commercial on behalf of wateraid to promote washing hands with soap after handling unhygenic substances in rural India. It can be seen here on their website.

I also got involved in the planning/aesthetic building stages of a big new project, which I think is top secret at this moment in time.

And finally, in reference to the post title, here is a ten second introduction I made for their showreel before leaving.

Lichtensteined

Yesterday I spent the day in a Lictenstein painting. I was helping my girlfriend out for her photography project. I think we're both really happy with the results, even though the make-up took in the region of six or seven hours for us both. We started prep early in the day and ended the shoot after 11pm, this was made more stressful by the fact that all the running around and the lights made me start to sweat the art right off my face.
