I don't like it when...

Here is a preliminary quickie animation that I coughed up for my current university project "5 Things I Like & 5 Things I don't Like". This was the first in a series of random likes and dislikes, but it seemed way too disjointed and a surface approach. My new idea is probably going to be the weirdest, most unhinged thing I've ever done and I'm super excited about it.

Yes that's my stupid voice.

Another one

Just got another one out for deadline day. I much prefer this one. I took a lot less time over it and I think it helped. Staring at a screen trying to push something that just isn't happening is probably the most frustrating and pointless thing. With less time you are forced to be harsh and decisive and find your way around the problems instead of wasting time. I should maybe set myself time limits on everything I do.

Could be a late one

This is the first of three images about the idolism of materialism. It doesn't feel finished yet, which is lame becasue I have to do two more by tomorrow. Not likely!

Advanced Photoshop

I'm so psyched to be in Advanced Photoshop. I landed some of my work in the typographic section this month, which I find amusing, considering the type project I did was off on a complete tangent to the rest of my work. I just wanted to get out of my comfort zone. I'd put it aside until now becasue I saw too many flaws in it, but I might have another shot at type soon. I guess it just shows that people can sometimes appreciate aspects of work that the creator can't. Here's a link to the Advanced Photoshop website.

Creative Spark

I recently finished a 9 week work placement at Manchester-based branding agency Creative Spark. Everyone was really cool to me and I got through a fair amount of work for them. None of it was conceptually challenging but it was nice to not have to think for a few weeks and just create some visuals. The work I did was all a little safe but still a lot of fun. I learned a lot in terms of the workings of business and have even been given an invitation back on a more professional basis which I'm super excited about.

(The above animation was a 3 week project I worked on to inform clients of the slight office relocation. Thanks to my lovely girlfriend Vikki for the narration).

Now I'm back for the new academic year it's time to start pushing my work forward again. It's been a summer of intense technical development and now I need to go back to basics and refine my artistic approach.

Fizzled Out

Silly London/Amercian Buiness Conferences. 3 months have passed and they still aren't announcing a winner on their website banner art competition that was meant to take a week. Don't start what you can't finish, jeez.

:EDIT 09/10/2010:
(According to the Facebook page it's not forgotten about, just delayed indefinitely).
